Getting your FSSAI certificate is only the first step. As a Food Business Operator (FBO), you have ongoing responsibilities to comply with the Food Safety and Standards Act.

Revised Turnover Thresholds
FSSAI has revised the annual turnover thresholds that determine eligibility for Registration versus State/Central Licence. The new limits apply from 1 April 2026. Eligibility also depends on the Kind of Business (KoB), production capacity and specific rules — turnover alone does not determine your category. FoSCoS KoB Eligibility Rules Revised
The Kind of Business (KoB) eligibility framework on FoSCoS has been updated. The applicable registration or licence category for many food businesses is now determined by their specific kind of business, production capacity and activity type — not just by turnover. Use the official eligibility check on foscos.fssai.gov.in to verify your category.

Do I need to renew my FSSAI licence or registration?
As per the FSSAI (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Amendment Regulations 2026, FSSAI Licences and Registrations issued on or after 01.04.2026 have perpetual validity — they remain valid unless suspended, cancelled or surrendered. Food Business Operators are no longer required to periodically renew their FSSAI licence or registration.
However, if your business details change (address, products, activity), a Modification application may still be required. If your turnover increases beyond your current category's threshold, your category will be updated accordingly.
