Frequently Asked Questions – Patient Pension Applications
Who is eligible for the cancer patient pension?
Kerala government’s financial assistance for cancer patients (and other serious illnesses) is provided through the Social Justice Department. Eligibility generally requires: diagnosis of cancer / leprosy confirmed by a government hospital doctor, income below the limit set by the government, and Kerala residency. Exact eligibility criteria are governed by government orders and may change.
What is CMDRF and how do I apply?
The Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) provides one-time financial assistance to persons facing serious illness, natural calamity, or accident. Applications are submitted to the District Collector’s office or online through the CMDRF portal. We help prepare and submit the application with supporting documents.
What is the Karunya Health Scheme?
Karunya Health Scheme is a Kerala government health protection scheme for persons with serious illness including cancer, kidney failure, heart disease, and others. It provides financial assistance for treatment at empanelled hospitals. Enrollment is done through the District Medical Office or designated centres.
How long does it take to start receiving the pension?
After submission and verification by the village office / taluk office / Social Justice Department, approved pensions are typically credited monthly. Processing time varies — generally 2–3 months for new registrations. CMDRF and Karunya assistance may have different timelines depending on the type and documentation.
Service charge is minimal. Government pension and financial assistance amounts are paid directly by the government to the beneficiary’s bank account. Our charge covers only document preparation, form filling, and online submission assistance.
